WELCOME TO THE HOME OF NEWPORT I.O.W SHOTOKAN KARATE AND MARTIAL ARTS CLUB
If you are an existing or a former club student or some one that is interested in joining A Martial Arts club I hope the information on our site will be of some benefit to you. The club dates back to the late sixties, and was the first Shotokan Karate Club on the island. Shotokan Karate is one of the more traditional styles of Martial Arts. The club has a long history of traditional Shotokan Karate and the teaching methods are taught virtually the same way as our previous Sensei’s (instructors).The emphasis is, therefore one of dedication and hard work rather than physical ability. The ultimate aim of Karate lies not in victory nor defeat, but in the perfection of the character of its participants. (Gichin Funakoshi Sensei)
